Who you'll be talking to
I'm Ibrahim Afyon — a licensed insurance broker and Registered Social Security Analyst based in Clifton Park, working with people and small businesses across New York's Capital Region in English and Turkish.
How I work
I start with your situation rather than a product: your doctors, your prescriptions, your household, your dates — or for a business, what you do, who works for you and what would hurt most if it went wrong. Then I compare what the carriers I'm appointed with will actually offer you, and I tell you plainly when the coverage you already have looks like the right fit.
Most of my Medicare clients come to me around 65, or after they've been auto-enrolled into a plan they don't understand. Most of my Social Security clients are couples trying to sequence two claims. Most of my business clients are owner-operators — restaurants, contractors, shops — who want one person to call.
Background
I studied economics at the University at Albany and am licensed in New York as a life, accident and health insurance agent, and as a property and casualty agent and broker. I hold the RSSA® credential from the National Association of Registered Social Security Analysts and complete AHIP's Medicare certification every year. I also passed the SIE, Series 63 and 65 securities exams and the Series 3 futures exam — listed below for completeness; passing them confers no registration, and I do not offer securities, futures or investment advice.
I grew up speaking Turkish and work with the Turkish-speaking community across the Capital Region — see the Türkçe pages.
What I don't do
- I don't work for Medicare, the Social Security Administration or any government agency.
- I don't sell every plan in the market — only the ones I'm appointed to offer, which I'll always tell you.
- I don't give investment or securities advice.
- I don't cold-call. If you hear from me, it's because you asked.
