Medicare agent for Granville
Granville sits in the Mettowee River Valley of Washington County, on the Vermont border. Primary care is on North Street at the Granville Medical Center, a Glens Falls Hospital practice; the hospital itself is in Glens Falls; and for some people near the state line, the doctors are in Vermont. Where you get care decides which Medicare plans work.
Where Granville residents get care
- Granville Medical Center, 79 North Street (518-642-0612) — primary care and blood draws on weekdays from 7 to 5, with lab and imaging by appointment. It is one of Glens Falls Hospital's physician practices.
- Glens Falls Hospital, 100 Park Street, Glens Falls (518-926-1000) — a member of the Albany Med Health System with a 24-hour Emergency Department, which describes itself as serving Warren, Washington, Essex, Hamilton and northern Saratoga counties.
- Saratoga and Albany. If your doctors are in Saratoga Springs or Albany, check them separately; being in the same health system does not mean the same insurance contracts.
- Vermont. If you use doctors or a hospital across the state line, that decides more than anything else. Original Medicare with Medigap works with any provider that accepts Medicare; a Medicare Advantage plan works only as far as its network, so each Vermont provider has to be checked by name.
With a Medicare Advantage HMO, out-of-network care is generally covered only for emergencies, out-of-area urgent care and temporary dialysis; a PPO lets you go out of network at a higher cost; Original Medicare with a Medigap policy has no network at all. The pages for Glens Falls Hospital, Saratoga Hospital and Albany Med show which carriers each one lists, and the carriers for every Capital Region hospital are side by side on one page; I still check each hospital and doctor by name in the plan's directory.
What's particular about Granville
- On the Vermont line, with a New York plan list. The Town and Village of Granville are in Washington County, and all of the land in the 12832 ZIP area is too, so every Granville address sees the Washington County list: 44 Medicare Advantage plans for 2027. A move across the state line, or anywhere outside your plan's service area, opens a Special Enrollment Period that runs for two full months after the move.
- The hospital is in another county. Glens Falls Hospital is in the City of Glens Falls, in Warren County (45 plans for 2027). Plans follow where you live, not where the hospital is, so the question is whether a Washington County plan includes Glens Falls Hospital and the Granville practice.
- Rides to appointments. For county residents 60 and over who are not on Medicaid and have no other transportation, the county Office for Aging arranges rides through L.E.A.P. (518-746-2390, registration first) and, for those who qualify, GoGo Grandparent (register through the Office for Aging at 518-746-2420). If that is how you reach your doctors, the plan's in-network doctors need to be somewhere those rides go.
- Medigap is priced like Albany. New York's Department of Financial Services compares Medigap premiums by region, and its Albany region covers ZIP codes starting 120–123 and 128–129, which takes in Granville's 12832. In New York you can buy or switch Medigap in any month without health questions; the current premiums for the region are on their own page.
- Retiree and employer coverage first. State, county, school district and hospital retirees, and people still working at 65, have coverage that coordinates with Medicare in its own way. Whether an individual plan adds to it or cancels it comes before any comparison; NYSHIP retirees and Medicare while working past 65 cover the two most common cases.
The county Office for the Aging, ride programs and the food pantry
Free Medicare counselling is through the Washington County Office for the Aging & Disability Resource Center, Municipal Center, 383 Broadway, Building B, Fort Edward, (518) 746-2420, weekdays 8:30 to 4:30; its NY Connects Information Specialists are certified in HIICAP and screen for the Medicare Savings Program, Extra Help and EPIC. The same office registers riders for GoGo Grandparent, and L.E.A.P. rides are booked at (518) 746-2390; people on Medicaid use Medicaid transportation at 1-855-360-3544. In the village, the Granville Area Food Pantry & Community Services is at 3 Morrison Avenue, (518) 642-9039. The HIICAP page has every county office. Statewide HIICAP line: 1-800-701-0501.

My office is in Clifton Park, off Northway Exit 9. I come to Granville clients at home, or we talk by phone, WhatsApp or video. What a Granville plan review covers
- Every doctor you see, checked against each plan's current directory: the Granville Medical Center and Glens Falls Hospital, any Saratoga or Albany specialists, and any Vermont providers.
- Prescriptions priced through each plan's formulary for the full year, at the pharmacy you actually use.
- Retiree, VA or Medicaid coverage and exactly how each option would interact with it, plus a screening for the Medicare Savings Program and Extra Help.
- A written comparison with total yearly cost, and a plain statement of whether your current coverage should be left alone.

Common questions
Short answers to what people ask before they call.
Still have a question? Call (518) 902-8822 or book a call.
My doctor is at the Granville Medical Center. Which plans include it?
The Granville Medical Center on North Street is one of Glens Falls Hospital's physician practices, and Glens Falls Hospital is a member of the Albany Med Health System. Being part of the system does not put the practice in every plan, so I check the practice, your own provider and Glens Falls Hospital by name in each plan's directory for the year. The Glens Falls Hospital page places every plan sold in Washington County against the hospital's list.
My doctors are in Vermont. Can a New York Medicare plan cover them?
Original Medicare with a Medigap policy covers any provider in the country that accepts Medicare, including Vermont. A Medicare Advantage plan depends on its network: an HMO generally covers out-of-network care only for emergencies, urgent care away from home and temporary out-of-area dialysis, and a PPO may cover out-of-network providers at a higher cost. Check each Vermont doctor and hospital by name in the plan's own directory before you enroll.
Which Medicare plans can I get in Granville?
Washington County's. Medicare Advantage and Part D plans are filed by the county you live in, the Town and Village of Granville are both in Washington County, and the Census Bureau's ZIP-to-county file puts all of the land in the 12832 ZIP area there. Glens Falls Hospital is across the county line in Warren County, which has its own plan list, but that doesn't change yours; what matters is whether your Washington County plan includes the hospital.
Where is free Medicare counselling for Granville residents?
The Washington County Office for the Aging & Disability Resource Center at the Municipal Center, 383 Broadway, Building B, in Fort Edward (518-746-2420), weekdays 8:30 to 4:30. Its NY Connects Information Specialists are certified in HIICAP, New York's free Medicare counselling program, and screen for the Medicare Savings Program, Extra Help and EPIC. I enroll you in the plans I'm appointed with and stay your contact afterwards; HIICAP is the second opinion I recommend to anyone who wants one.
Do you meet clients in Granville?
Yes. My office is in Clifton Park, off Northway Exit 9, and I come to you at home in the Town or Village of Granville. A first conversation can be by phone or WhatsApp, and a full review works by video when that's easier.
