Warren County is a drive up the Northway from my office in Clifton Park, and I meet people here at home as well as by phone and video. Most Medicare choices here start with one question: how does the plan treat Glens Falls Hospital and the doctors around it?
Where Warren County residents get care
- Glens Falls Hospital, in the city of Glens Falls, a member of the Albany Med Health System. For most plans this is the first network question; the Glens Falls Hospital page puts every plan sold in Warren and Washington counties against the hospital's own list.
- Specialists further south. If you see specialists in Saratoga Springs or Albany, check them separately: being in the same health system does not guarantee the same insurance contracts.

What's particular about Warren County
- Its own plan list. Medicare Advantage plans are filed by county, so a Queensbury address and a Hudson Falls address across the county line in Washington County can see different plan lists even when both use Glens Falls Hospital.
- Winters away. If you spend part of the year somewhere else, check how a plan handles routine care away from home. An HMO generally covers care outside its network only for emergencies, urgent care away from home and temporary out-of-area dialysis; a PPO may cover out-of-network providers, usually at a higher cost. The Office for the Aging serving Warren and Hamilton counties is in the Human Services Building at 1340 State Route 9 in Lake George, (518) 761-6347. Do Medicare Advantage plans in Warren County include Glens Falls Hospital?
Glens Falls Hospital is part of the Albany Med Health System and follows the system's accepted-insurance list, and its own page also names UnitedHealthcare.
