Medicare agent for Lake George and Warrensburg

The Town of Lake George, the village inside it, and the Town of Warrensburg all share Warren County's plan list and, for most people, the same two checks: whether a plan includes Glens Falls Hospital, and whether it includes your Hudson Headwaters health center and doctor by name.

Where Lake George and Warrensburg residents get care

  • Glens Falls Hospital, 100 Park Street, Glens Falls (518-926-1000) — a member of the Albany Med Health System, and the hospital the Town of Warrensburg lists among its local medical services. It is the first network question to check; the Glens Falls Hospital page places every plan sold in Warren County against the hospital's own list.
  • Hudson Headwaters Health Network — a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center. Its Warrensburg Health Center at 3767 Main Street (518-623-2844) has family and internal medicine, urgent care seven days a week with walk-ins welcome, and specialists including cardiology, podiatry and ENT, plus lab and imaging. Its site lists no health center in Lake George itself; others include the Bolton Health Center on Cross Street in Bolton Landing and the health centers in Queensbury and Glens Falls.
  • Specialists further south. Saratoga Hospital and Albany Medical Center are in the same health system as Glens Falls Hospital, but being in the same system does not mean the same insurance contracts. If you see a specialist in Saratoga Springs or Albany, I check that office separately.

Hudson Headwaters' insurance page lists Medicare and the carriers it works with, but it names carriers, not individual Medicare Advantage plans. With Medicare Advantage, the hospital, your health center and each specialist all have to be in the specific plan's directory for the year; Original Medicare with a Medigap policy has no network, so any provider that accepts Medicare works. The carriers each Capital Region hospital lists are on one page.

What's particular about Lake George and Warrensburg

  • One county list for town, village and Warrensburg. The Village of Lake George is Warren County's only village and sits inside the Town of Lake George; Warrensburg is a separate town. All of them are in Warren County, so they share one Medicare Advantage list: 45 plans for 2027.
  • Urgent care close by, hospital further off. Warrensburg has walk-in urgent care at the Hudson Headwaters health center, while admissions go to Glens Falls Hospital. An urgent care visit and a hospital stay are priced separately in Medicare Advantage plans, so I show both costs for each plan, not just the premium.
  • The pharmacy you can get to. The Town of Warrensburg lists two pharmacies on Main Street, House Calls Pharmacy and Walgreens. Part D and Medicare Advantage plans can charge different amounts at different pharmacies, so I price your prescriptions at the one you actually use. For people 60 and over, and veterans, the county's free errand van serves Warrensburg, with pickups booked through the Office for the Aging.
  • Medigap is priced like Albany. New York's Department of Financial Services compares Medigap premiums by region, and its Albany region covers ZIP codes starting 120–123 and 128–129, which takes in Lake George (12845) and Warrensburg (12885). In New York you can buy or switch Medigap in any month without health questions; the current premiums for the region are on their own page.
  • Winters away and retiree coverage. If you spend part of the year somewhere warmer, an HMO generally covers care outside its network only for emergencies, urgent care away from home and temporary out-of-area dialysis; a PPO may cover out-of-network providers at a higher cost, and Original Medicare with Medigap works with any provider in the country that accepts Medicare. If you have retiree coverage, how it coordinates with Medicare comes first; NYSHIP retirees and Medicare while working past 65 cover the two most common cases.

  1. Every doctor you see, checked against each plan's current directory: Glens Falls Hospital, your Hudson Headwaters health center and provider, and any specialists in Saratoga Springs or Albany.
  2. Prescriptions priced through each plan's formulary for the full year, at the pharmacy you actually use.
  3. Retiree, VA or Medicaid coverage and exactly how each option would interact with it, plus a screening for the Medicare Savings Program and Extra Help.

Do Medicare Advantage plans in Lake George and Warrensburg include Glens Falls Hospital?

Glens Falls Hospital is a member of the Albany Med Health System and follows the system's accepted-insurance list. That list names carriers, not plans, so a carrier on it doesn't by itself mean a specific plan includes the hospital. I check the hospital and each of your doctors by name in the plan's own directory, and the Glens Falls Hospital page places every plan sold in Warren County against the hospital's list.

My doctor is at the Warrensburg Health Center. How do I know a plan includes it?

The Warrensburg Health Center is part of Hudson Headwaters Health Network. Hudson Headwaters' insurance page lists Medicare and the carriers it participates with, but it names carriers, not individual Medicare Advantage plans, and says to call the carrier if your plan isn't listed. Before you enroll, I check the health center and your provider by name in the specific plan's directory for the year.

I enroll you in the plans I'm appointed with and stay your contact afterwards; HIICAP is the second opinion I recommend to anyone who wants one.

Is there help getting to the pharmacy from Warrensburg?
