Medicare agent for Hudson Falls and Fort Edward
Hudson Falls is the village inside the Town of Kingsbury, and Fort Edward has been Washington County's seat since 1994, so the county's aging office and its free Medicare counselling are right here. For care, the names that matter are Glens Falls Hospital, across the county line in Glens Falls, its primary care practice on Main Street in Hudson Falls, and the Hudson Headwaters health center on East Street in Fort Edward.
Where Hudson Falls and Fort Edward residents get care
- Glens Falls Hospital, 100 Park Street, Glens Falls (518-926-1000) — a member of the Albany Med Health System, with a 24-hour Emergency Department and the C.R. Wood Cancer Center on its campus. It describes itself as serving Warren, Washington, Essex, Hamilton and northern Saratoga counties, and it runs the Hudson Falls Medical Center at 325 Main Street (518-747-3376), a primary care and geriatric medicine practice open weekdays.
- Hudson Headwaters Health Network — a nonprofit community health center network whose Fort Edward-Kingsbury Health Center is at 48 East Street in Fort Edward (518-824-8630), with family and internal medicine, lab, podiatry and behavioral health. Its insurance page names carriers, not individual Medicare Advantage plans, so the plan's own directory is the final check.
- Specialists in Saratoga Springs and Albany. Saratoga Hospital at 211 Church Street in Saratoga Springs and Albany Medical Center are in the same health system as Glens Falls Hospital, but being in the same system does not mean the same insurance contracts. If you see a cardiologist or oncologist in Saratoga Springs or Albany, I check that office separately.
Original Medicare has no network, so with a Medigap policy every one of these works as long as the provider accepts Medicare. With Medicare Advantage, the hospital, the health center and each specialist all have to be in the specific plan's directory for the year. The pages for Glens Falls Hospital, Saratoga Hospital and Albany Med show which carriers each one lists, and the carriers for every Capital Region hospital are side by side on one page; I still check each hospital and doctor by name in the plan's directory.
What's particular about Hudson Falls and Fort Edward
- The hospital is in another county; your plan list isn't. Glens Falls Hospital is in Warren County (45 Medicare Advantage plans for 2027), but plans follow where you live, so Hudson Falls, Kingsbury and Fort Edward see the Washington County list: 44 plans for 2027. The Glens Falls Hospital page places the Washington County plans against the hospital's list separately from the Warren County ones.
- The 12828 ZIP code crosses a county line. The Census Bureau's ZIP-to-county file puts part of the Fort Edward 12828 ZIP area in Saratoga County, which has its own list of 52 plans. Two neighbors with the same post office name can be choosing from different plans, so I start from your street address. A move to an address outside your plan's service area, or to one with new plan options, opens a Special Enrollment Period that runs for two full months after the move.
- Getting to appointments. CDTA's Route 404 serves Hudson Falls and Fort Edward, and since August 23, 2026 Route 402 reaches Glens Falls Hospital on weekdays. For residents 60 and over who are not on Medicaid and have no other transportation, the county Office for Aging arranges rides through L.E.A.P. (518-746-2390, registration required) and GoGo Grandparent. If that is how you get to the doctor, the plan's in-network doctors need to be somewhere those rides go.
- Medigap is priced like Albany. New York's Department of Financial Services compares Medigap premiums by region, and its Albany region covers ZIP codes starting 120–123 and 128–129, which takes in Hudson Falls (12839) and Fort Edward (12828). In New York you can buy or switch Medigap in any month without health questions; the current premiums for the region are on their own page.
- Retiree and employer coverage first. State, county, school district and hospital retirees, and people still working at 65, have coverage that coordinates with Medicare in its own way, and joining an outside plan can disrupt it. That question comes before any comparison; NYSHIP retirees and Medicare while working past 65 cover the two most common cases.

Do Medicare Advantage plans in Hudson Falls include Glens Falls Hospital?
Glens Falls Hospital is a member of the Albany Med Health System and follows the system's accepted-insurance list, which names carriers, not plans. A carrier on that list does not mean every plan from that carrier is in network, so I check the hospital, its Hudson Falls Medical Center practice and each of your doctors by name in the plan's own directory. The Glens Falls Hospital page places every plan sold in Washington County against the hospital's list.
My address says Fort Edward 12828. Which plans can I get?
It depends on which side of the county line you live on. The Census Bureau's ZIP-to-county file splits the 12828 ZIP area between Washington County and Saratoga County. Medicare Advantage and Part D plans are filed by the county you live in, not the post office name, so a 12828 address in Saratoga County sees Saratoga County's plan list and one in Washington County sees Washington County's. I confirm the county from your street address before comparing anything.
My doctor is at the Hudson Headwaters health center in Fort Edward. Which plans does it take?
Hudson Headwaters Health Network's insurance page lists Medicare and a set of carriers, not individual Medicare Advantage plans, and says to call the carrier if your plan isn't listed. So before you enroll, I check the Fort Edward-Kingsbury Health Center and your own provider by name in the specific plan's directory for the year.
Where is free Medicare counselling in Hudson Falls and Fort Edward?
In Fort Edward. The Washington County Office for the Aging & Disability Resource Center is at the Municipal Center, 383 Broadway, Building B (518-746-2420), weekdays 8:30 to 4:30. Its NY Connects Information Specialists are certified in HIICAP, New York's free Medicare counselling program, and screen for the Medicare Savings Program, Extra Help and EPIC. I enroll you in the plans I'm appointed with and stay your contact afterwards; HIICAP is the second opinion I recommend to anyone who wants one.
Do you meet clients in Hudson Falls and Fort Edward?
Yes. My office is in Clifton Park, off Northway Exit 9, and I come up the Northway to meet people at home in Hudson Falls, Kingsbury and Fort Edward. A first conversation can be by phone or WhatsApp, and full reviews work well by video when that's easier.
