Medicare agent for the Town of Indian Lake
The Town of Indian Lake takes in three hamlets, Sabael, Indian Lake and Blue Mountain Lake, and it is in Hamilton County, which decides which Medicare Advantage plans you can choose from. Primary care in town is at the Hudson Headwaters health center on Route 30. My office is in Clifton Park, and I work with Indian Lake residents by phone, WhatsApp and video.
Where Indian Lake residents get care
- Indian Lake Health Center, 6356 State Route 30 (518-648-5707), run by Hudson Headwaters Health Network: family medicine, gynecology, lab services, behavioral health, nutrition counselling and diabetes education, care management and clinical pharmacy services. It is open Monday and Wednesday to Friday, 8 to 4, and Saturday, 1 to 4, with blood draws on Monday and Wednesday mornings, and Hudson Headwaters providers answer by phone after hours.
- Glens Falls Hospital, part of the Albany Med Health System, whose physician practices list Hamilton County in the area they serve. The Glens Falls Hospital page shows which carriers it lists.
- Emergencies. The Town says fire and ambulance services are available in both Indian Lake and Blue Mountain Lake.
Hudson Headwaters' insurance page names carriers, not individual Medicare Advantage plans, and a carrier is not a plan. With a Medicare Advantage HMO, your primary-care doctor, your specialists, the hospital and any rehab or nursing stay after it all have to be in the plan's directory for the year. Original Medicare with a Medigap policy has no network, so any provider that accepts Medicare works. I check the health center, the hospital and each specialist by name in the plan's directory before we compare anything else.
What's particular about Indian Lake
- Three hamlets, one county list. Sabael, Indian Lake and Blue Mountain Lake are all in the Town of Indian Lake, in Hamilton County, so they see the Hamilton County plan list: 33 Medicare Advantage plans for 2027. Seeing a specialist outside the county doesn't change your list; it changes which directories we have to check.
- Home health from the County. Hamilton County Public Health and Nursing Services runs a Certified Home Health Agency at 139 White Birch Lane (518-648-6141), with nursing, therapy, medical social work and home health aides, in home visits for acute and chronic conditions. The County says it accepts Medicare and other insurance; with a Medicare Advantage plan, the agency has to be in the plan's network as well.
- Lunch at the senior center. The Indian Lake Senior Center, at 6358 State Route 30, is one of the Office for the Aging's meal sites, with lunch at noon on weekdays for anyone 60 or older and their spouse ((518) 648-5412). The same office arranges volunteer drivers for medical appointments; ask it at 1-888-553-4994.
- Medigap is priced like Albany. New York's Department of Financial Services compares Medigap premiums by region, and its Albany region covers ZIP codes starting 120–123 and 128–129, which takes in Indian Lake (12842) and Blue Mountain Lake (12812). In New York you can buy or switch Medigap in any month without health questions; the current premiums for the region are on their own page.
- Retiree and employer coverage first. State, school district and hospital retirees, and people still working at 65, have coverage that coordinates with Medicare in its own way. Whether an individual plan adds to it or cancels it comes before any comparison; NYSHIP retirees and Medicare while working past 65 cover the two most common cases.
Warren/Hamilton Counties Office for the Aging
One office serves both counties, from the Human Services Building at 1340 State Route 9 in Lake George, (518) 761-6347, with a Hamilton County line at 1-888-553-4994. It runs HIICAP, New York's free, unbiased Medicare counselling, for Warren and Hamilton county residents, along with the Indian Lake meal site and NY Connects. How the Medicare Savings Program, Extra Help and EPIC work is on its own page. The HIICAP page has every county office. Statewide HIICAP line: 1-800-701-0501.

How we work from Indian Lake
My office is in Clifton Park, and I work with Indian Lake, Blue Mountain Lake and Sabael residents by phone, WhatsApp and video. A first call takes about fifteen minutes: your ZIP code, your doctors and where they are, your prescriptions and pharmacy, and any retiree, VA or Medicaid coverage. Nothing is decided on a first call.
What an Indian Lake plan review covers
- Every doctor you see, checked against each plan's current directory, including the Indian Lake Health Center, Glens Falls Hospital, any other specialists and the County's home health agency.
- Prescriptions priced through each plan's formulary for the full year, at the pharmacy you actually use.
- Retiree, employer, VA or Medicaid coverage and exactly how each option would interact with it, plus a screening for the Medicare Savings Program and Extra Help.
- A written comparison with total yearly cost, and a plain statement of whether your current coverage should be left alone.

Common questions
Short answers to what people ask before they call.
Still have a question? Call (518) 902-8822 or book a call.
I live in Blue Mountain Lake. Is my plan list different from Indian Lake's?
No. Blue Mountain Lake, Indian Lake and Sabael are all hamlets of the Town of Indian Lake, in Hamilton County, and Medicare Advantage and Part D plans are filed by county and follow where you live. Every address in the town sees the Hamilton County list. What differs from one person to the next is which doctors and hospitals have to be in the plan's directory.
What if I need care after hours or in an emergency?
Hudson Headwaters says its providers are available by phone after hours, so call the Indian Lake Health Center's number (518-648-5707) to reach the on-call provider. The Town says fire and ambulance services are available in both Indian Lake and Blue Mountain Lake. A Medicare Advantage HMO covers emergency care outside its network; for anything planned, the hospital and the specialist have to be in the plan's network, so I check them by name before you enroll.
I need nursing or therapy at home. Who provides it?
Hamilton County Public Health and Nursing Services runs a Certified Home Health Agency at 139 White Birch Lane in Indian Lake (518-648-6141), with nursing, physical, occupational and speech therapy, medical social work and home health aides. The County says it accepts Medicare, Medicaid and other insurance, and takes referrals from hospitals, doctors, family or the patient. With a Medicare Advantage plan, check that the agency is in the plan's network; I do that as part of a review.
Is there a senior lunch in Indian Lake?
Yes. The Warren/Hamilton Counties Office for the Aging lists the Indian Lake Senior Center, at 6358 State Route 30, as one of its meal sites, with lunch at noon Monday through Friday for anyone 60 or older and their spouse, regardless of income. Call the site at (518) 648-5412.
Do you meet Indian Lake clients in person?
No. My office is in Clifton Park, and I work with Indian Lake residents by phone, WhatsApp and video. The comparison and the enrollment work the same way, and I stay your contact afterwards.
