Medicare agent for Pawling
My office is in Clifton Park, and I work with Pawling residents by phone, WhatsApp and video. The Town of Pawling and the Village of Pawling are both in Dutchess County, and that decides which Medicare Advantage plans you can choose from, wherever your doctors are.
Where Pawling residents get care
Dutchess County's two Poughkeepsie hospitals belong to two health systems that contract with Medicare Advantage carriers separately:
- Northwell Health — Vassar Brothers Medical Center, at 45 Reade Place in Poughkeepsie (845-454-8500).
- Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth) — MidHudson Regional Hospital, at 241 North Road in Poughkeepsie (845-483-5000).
A plan can include one system and not the other, and doctors in Putnam County or Connecticut have to be checked one by one. With an HMO, your primary-care doctor, your specialists, the hospital they admit to and any rehab after a stay all have to be in the plan's directory for the year. Original Medicare with a Medigap policy has no network, so any provider that accepts Medicare works. Neither hospital has a page of its own here; I check each hospital and doctor by name in the plan's directory.
What's particular about Pawling
- Town and Village, one plan list. Town Hall is at 160 Charles Colman Boulevard and Village Hall at 9 Memorial Avenue, and both the Town and the Village of Pawling are in Dutchess County. Both see the Dutchess County plan list: 42 Medicare Advantage plans for 2027, even if some of your doctors are over the Putnam County or Connecticut line. A move out of your plan's service area, or to an address with new plan options, opens a Special Enrollment Period that runs for two full months after the move.
- Getting to appointments. Dutchess County Public Transit's Route E runs from Poughkeepsie to Pawling and Wingdale, with weekday, Saturday and Sunday schedules, and Metro-North's Harlem Line stops in Pawling. Flex is curb-to-curb, on weekdays, anywhere in the county, for registered riders who book 30 days to 3 days ahead (845-473-8424); the county's Dial-A-Ride does not list Pawling. The Office for the Aging (845-486-2555) registers older adults who are not on Medicaid and have no other way to get there for a limited number of free rides to non-emergency medical appointments in the county, and the county lists the Pawling Resource Center (845-855-3459) for older Pawling residents, with rides to Putnam County or nearby Connecticut. If you rely on rides like these, the plan's doctors have to be somewhere they reach.
- Medigap. In New York you can buy or switch Medigap in any month without health questions. Premiums are set by region, and I check the Department of Financial Services' published rates for yours.
- Retiree, employer and VA coverage first. State, school district and hospital retirees, people still working at 65 and veterans with VA care have coverage that coordinates with Medicare in its own way. Veterans can register for free rides to medical appointments through the county's Office for Veterans Affairs (845-486-2060). Whether an individual plan adds to other coverage or cancels it comes before any comparison; NYSHIP retirees, Medicare while working past 65 and Medicare and VA benefits explain each one.
The Pawling Friendship Center and the Dutchess County Office for the Aging
The county's Pawling Friendship Center is in the Town Hall Annex at 154 Charles Colman Boulevard (845-855-9308), open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 to 2; call the Office for the Aging at 845-486-2555 before your first visit. Its activities can include health talks and "Navigating Medicare" presentations, and the county says transportation is available in most cases. The Dutchess County Office for the Aging is at 114 Delafield Street in Poughkeepsie, (845) 486-2555. It runs HIICAP, free, objective Medicare counselling, on a hotline at 845-486-2566, and holds workshops that cover the Medicare Savings Programs; its pages also cover EPIC. The HIICAP page has every county office. Statewide HIICAP line: 1-800-701-0501.

How we work from Pawling
My office is in Clifton Park, and I work with Pawling residents by phone, WhatsApp and video. A first call takes about fifteen minutes: your ZIP code, your doctors and where they are, your prescriptions, and any retiree, VA or Medicaid coverage. Nothing is decided on a first call.
What a Pawling plan review covers
- Every doctor you see, checked against each plan's current directory, including the hospital they admit to: Vassar Brothers (Northwell) or MidHudson Regional (WMCHealth), and any doctor in Putnam County or Connecticut.
- Prescriptions priced through each plan's formulary for the full year, at the pharmacy you actually use.
- Retiree, employer, VA or Medicaid coverage and exactly how each option would interact with it, plus a screening for the Medicare Savings Program and Extra Help.
- A written comparison with total yearly cost, gone through together by video or phone, and a plain statement of whether your current coverage should be left alone.
No fee for Medicare plan help. Request a review, or read the wider Medicare page for all of Dutchess County. Other Dutchess County pages: LaGrange · Fishkill · Poughkeepsie.

Still have a question? Call (518) 902-8822 or book a call.
Do Medicare Advantage plans in Pawling include Vassar Brothers and MidHudson Regional?
It depends on the plan, and the two Poughkeepsie hospitals are in different health systems. Vassar Brothers Medical Center on Reade Place is now part of Northwell Health; MidHudson Regional Hospital on North Road is part of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth). A plan can list one system and not the other, so I check the hospital you'd use and each of your doctors by name in the specific plan's directory for Dutchess County.
Some of my doctors are in Putnam County or Connecticut. Which plan list do I get?
The Dutchess County list. Medicare Advantage and Part D plans are filed by county and follow where you live, not where your doctors are, and both the Town and the Village of Pawling are in Dutchess County. What matters for a doctor in Putnam County or across the Connecticut line is whether that doctor is in the directory of the Dutchess County plan you choose; with an HMO, out-of-network care is generally covered only for emergencies and urgent care. Original Medicare with a Medigap policy works with any provider in the country that accepts Medicare.
I don't drive. How do I get to medical appointments from Pawling?
Dutchess County Public Transit's Route E runs from Poughkeepsie to Pawling via LaGrange, Union Vale and Beekman, on to Wingdale, with weekday, Saturday and Sunday schedules. Its Flex service is curb-to-curb on weekdays anywhere in the county for registered riders, booked 30 days to 3 days ahead at (845) 473-8424; the county's Dial-A-Ride does not list Pawling. The Office for the Aging (845-486-2555) registers older adults who are not on Medicaid and have no other way to get there for a limited number of free rides to non-emergency medical appointments in the county. The county also lists the Pawling Resource Center (845-855-3459), which serves the transportation needs of older Pawling residents and will travel to Putnam County or nearby Connecticut.
Where is free Medicare counselling for Pawling residents?
The Dutchess County Office for the Aging, at 114 Delafield Street in Poughkeepsie, runs HIICAP, which gives free, objective counselling on Medicare. Its HIICAP hotline is 845-486-2566; the main office line is (845) 486-2555. The statewide HIICAP line is 1-800-701-0501. It's a good second opinion on anything I recommend.
Do you meet Pawling clients in person?
No. My office is in Clifton Park, and I work with Pawling residents by phone, WhatsApp and video. The comparison and the enrollment work the same way, and I stay your contact afterwards.
