Medicare agent for Hyde Park
My office is in Clifton Park, and I work with Hyde Park residents by phone, WhatsApp and video. The Town of Hyde Park, including the hamlet of Staatsburg, is in Dutchess County, and that decides which Medicare Advantage plans you can choose from, whichever hospital your doctors use.
Where Hyde Park residents get care
Hyde Park has primary care in town, and the hospitals in Rhinebeck and Poughkeepsie belong to two health systems that contract with Medicare Advantage carriers separately:
- Northwell Health — Northwell Health Primary Care at Hyde Park, at 4068 Albany Post Road (845-229-2123; weekdays 8 to 5), with routine exams, screenings, care for chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, and vaccinations, in person or by telehealth. The system's hospitals are Northern Dutchess Hospital, at 6511 Springbrook Avenue in Rhinebeck (845-876-3001), and Vassar Brothers Medical Center, at 45 Reade Place in Poughkeepsie (845-454-8500).
- Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth) — MidHudson Regional Hospital, at 241 North Road in Poughkeepsie (845-483-5000).
A plan can include one of these systems and not the other. With an HMO, your primary-care doctor, your specialists, the hospital they admit to and any rehab after a stay all have to be in the plan's directory for the year. Original Medicare with a Medigap policy has no network, so any provider that accepts Medicare works. None of these hospitals has a page of its own here; I check each hospital and doctor by name in the plan's directory.
What's particular about Hyde Park
- Hyde Park and Staatsburg, one plan list. Staatsburg is a hamlet within the Town of Hyde Park, and the whole town sees the Dutchess County plan list: 42 Medicare Advantage plans for 2027. What matters is whether your doctors, in Hyde Park, Rhinebeck or Poughkeepsie, are in the directory of the plan you pick. A move out of your plan's service area, or to an address with new plan options, opens a Special Enrollment Period that runs for two full months after the move.
- Getting to appointments. Dutchess County Public Transit's Route C runs Monday to Saturday from Poughkeepsie to Tivoli via MidHudson Regional Hospital, Hyde Park, Rhinebeck and Red Hook. Dial-A-Ride is curb-to-curb on weekdays, 8:15 to 4:15, for registered residents of the Town of Hyde Park and five other Dutchess municipalities, booked 30 days to 3 days ahead (845-473-8424). Its ADA paratransit serves eligible riders whose trips start and end within three-quarters of a mile of a county bus route. The Office for the Aging (845-486-2555) registers older adults who are not on Medicaid and have no other way to get there for a limited number of free rides to non-emergency medical appointments in the county. If that's how you get around, the plan's doctors have to be somewhere those rides reach.
- Medigap. In New York you can buy or switch Medigap in any month without health questions. Premiums are set by region, and I check the Department of Financial Services' published rates for yours.
- Retiree, employer and VA coverage first. State, school district and hospital retirees, people still working at 65 and veterans with VA care have coverage that coordinates with Medicare in its own way. Whether an individual plan adds to it or cancels it comes before any comparison; NYSHIP retirees, Medicare while working past 65 and Medicare and VA benefits explain each one.
The Town senior drop-in and the Dutchess County Office for the Aging
The Town of Hyde Park's Parks & Recreation Department runs a free Senior Drop-In Center on Mondays and Wednesdays, 10 to 2, at 4408 Albany Post Road, with games, refreshments and luncheons, and free Senior Exercise classes there at 9 on the same days; questions go to the Recreation Leader at 845-229-8086. The county lists no Friendship Center in Hyde Park; the Poughkeepsie Friendship Center is at 114 Delafield Street (845-486-2564), open weekdays 9 to 2, and its activities include "Navigating Medicare" presentations. The Dutchess County Office for the Aging is in the same building, (845) 486-2555. It runs HIICAP, free, objective Medicare counselling, on a hotline at 845-486-2566, and its pages cover EPIC and the Medicare Savings Programs. The HIICAP page has every county office. Statewide HIICAP line: 1-800-701-0501.

How we work from Hyde Park
My office is in Clifton Park, and I work with Hyde Park residents by phone, WhatsApp and video. A first call takes about fifteen minutes: your ZIP code, your doctors and where they are, your prescriptions, and any retiree, VA or Medicaid coverage. Nothing is decided on a first call.
What a Hyde Park plan review covers
- Every doctor you see, checked against each plan's current directory, including the hospital they admit to: Northern Dutchess or Vassar Brothers (Northwell), or MidHudson Regional (WMCHealth).
- Prescriptions priced through each plan's formulary for the full year, at the pharmacy you actually use.
- Retiree, employer, VA or Medicaid coverage and exactly how each option would interact with it, plus a screening for the Medicare Savings Program and Extra Help.
- A written comparison with total yearly cost, gone through together by video or phone, and a plain statement of whether your current coverage should be left alone.
No fee for Medicare plan help. Request a review, or read the wider Medicare page for all of Dutchess County. Nearby: Rhinebeck · Poughkeepsie · Wappingers Falls · Beacon.

Common questions
Short answers to what people ask before they call.
Still have a question? Call (518) 902-8822 or book a call.
Do Medicare Advantage plans in Hyde Park include Northern Dutchess, Vassar Brothers and MidHudson Regional?
It depends on the plan, and the hospitals are in two health systems. Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie are now part of Northwell Health, which also runs Northwell Health Primary Care at Hyde Park on Albany Post Road. MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie is part of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth). A plan can list one system and not the other, so I check the hospital you'd use and each of your doctors by name in the specific plan's directory for Dutchess County.
I live in Staatsburg. Is my plan list different from Hyde Park's?
No. Staatsburg is a hamlet within the Town of Hyde Park, and the whole town is in Dutchess County. Medicare Advantage and Part D plans are filed by county, so a Staatsburg address and a Hyde Park address see the same Dutchess County plan list.
I don't drive. How do I get to medical appointments from Hyde Park?
Dutchess County Public Transit's Route C runs Monday to Saturday from Poughkeepsie to Tivoli via MidHudson Regional Hospital, Hyde Park, Rhinebeck and Red Hook. Its Dial-A-Ride is a curb-to-curb service open to residents of the Town of Hyde Park, among others, weekdays 8:15 to 4:15, once you have registered; rides are booked 30 days to 3 days ahead at (845) 473-8424. The Office for the Aging (845-486-2555) registers older adults who are not on Medicaid and have no other way to get there for a limited number of free rides to non-emergency medical appointments in the county. When you rely on rides like these, I check that a plan's doctors are somewhere you can reach.
Where is free Medicare counselling for Hyde Park residents?
The Dutchess County Office for the Aging, at 114 Delafield Street in Poughkeepsie, runs HIICAP, which gives free, objective counselling on Medicare. Its HIICAP hotline is 845-486-2566; the main office line is (845) 486-2555. The statewide HIICAP line is 1-800-701-0501. It's a good second opinion on anything I recommend.
Do you meet Hyde Park clients in person?
No. My office is in Clifton Park, and I work with Hyde Park residents by phone, WhatsApp and video. The comparison and the enrollment work the same way, and I stay your contact afterwards.
