Medicare agent for Millbrook
My office is in Clifton Park, and I work with Millbrook residents by phone, WhatsApp and video. The Village of Millbrook is in the Town of Washington in Dutchess County, and the county decides which Medicare Advantage plans you can choose from.
Where Millbrook residents get care
Dutchess County's hospitals belong to two health systems that contract with Medicare Advantage carriers separately, and one of them runs a primary care practice named for Millbrook:
- Northwell Health — Vassar Brothers Medical Center, at 45 Reade Place in Poughkeepsie (845-454-8500), and Northern Dutchess Hospital, at 6511 Springbrook Avenue in Rhinebeck (845-876-3001). Northwell Health Primary Care at Millbrook is at 2510 Route 44, with a Salt Point address (845-677-8358; weekdays 8:30 to 5), for check-ups, blood tests, vaccinations, medication management and ongoing care for conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
- Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth) — MidHudson Regional Hospital, at 241 North Road in Poughkeepsie (845-483-5000).
A plan can include one system and not the other. With an HMO, your primary-care doctor, your specialists, the hospital they admit to and any rehab after a stay all have to be in the plan's directory for the year. Original Medicare with a Medigap policy has no network, so any provider that accepts Medicare works. None of these hospitals has a page of its own here; I check each hospital and doctor by name in the plan's directory.
What's particular about Millbrook
- Village and Town, one plan list. Village Hall is at 35 Merritt Avenue, and the Village is part of the Town of Washington, whose Town Hall at 10 Reservoir Drive also has a Millbrook address. Both are in Dutchess County, so both see the Dutchess County plan list: 42 Medicare Advantage plans for 2027. A move out of your plan's service area, or to an address with new plan options, opens a Special Enrollment Period that runs for two full months after the move.
- Getting to appointments. Dutchess County Public Transit's Route D runs from Poughkeepsie to Millbrook via Pleasant Valley, Monday through Saturday. Flex is curb-to-curb, on weekdays, anywhere in the county, for registered riders who book 30 days to 3 days ahead (845-473-8424); the county's Dial-A-Ride does not list the Town of Washington. The Village lists the North East Community Center's Dial-A-Ride, with door pickup for Millbrook residents and trips anywhere in the county for medical visits, shopping or social outings ((518) 592-1399, ext. 5). The Office for the Aging (845-486-2555) registers older adults who are not on Medicaid and have no other way to get there for a limited number of free rides to non-emergency medical appointments in the county. If you rely on rides like these, the plan's doctors have to be somewhere they reach.
- Medigap. In New York you can buy or switch Medigap in any month without health questions. Premiums are set by region, and I check the Department of Financial Services' published rates for yours.
- Retiree, employer and VA coverage first. State, school district and hospital retirees, people still working at 65 and veterans with VA care have coverage that coordinates with Medicare in its own way. Veterans can register for free rides to medical appointments through the county's Office for Veterans Affairs (845-486-2060). Whether an individual plan adds to other coverage or cancels it comes before any comparison; NYSHIP retirees, Medicare while working past 65 and Medicare and VA benefits explain each one.
The Town of Washington Senior Center and the Dutchess County Office for the Aging
The Village's senior page lists the Town of Washington Senior Center for adults 60 and over, open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 to 2 in the Turletes Building at the Town Park, 3744 Route 44. The Town's Recreation department runs its Adult 60+ program (845-677-3419, ext. 111). The county lists no Friendship Center in Millbrook; Route D passes through Pleasant Valley, where the county's Tri-Town Friendship Center on Main Street (US 44) (845-275-8565) can hold "Navigating Medicare" presentations. The Dutchess County Office for the Aging is at 114 Delafield Street in Poughkeepsie, (845) 486-2555. It runs HIICAP, free, objective Medicare counselling, on a hotline at 845-486-2566, and holds workshops that cover the Medicare Savings Programs; its pages also cover EPIC. The HIICAP page has every county office. Statewide HIICAP line: 1-800-701-0501.

How we work from Millbrook
My office is in Clifton Park, and I work with Millbrook residents by phone, WhatsApp and video. A first call takes about fifteen minutes: your ZIP code, your doctors and where they are, your prescriptions, and any retiree, VA or Medicaid coverage. Nothing is decided on a first call.
What a Millbrook plan review covers
- Every doctor you see, checked against each plan's current directory, including the hospital they admit to: Vassar Brothers or Northern Dutchess (Northwell) or MidHudson Regional (WMCHealth).
- Prescriptions priced through each plan's formulary for the full year, at the pharmacy you actually use.
- Retiree, employer, VA or Medicaid coverage and exactly how each option would interact with it, plus a screening for the Medicare Savings Program and Extra Help.
- A written comparison with total yearly cost, gone through together by video or phone, and a plain statement of whether your current coverage should be left alone.
No fee for Medicare plan help. Request a review, or read the wider Medicare page for all of Dutchess County. Other Dutchess County pages: Poughkeepsie · LaGrange · Rhinebeck.

Do Medicare Advantage plans in Millbrook include Vassar Brothers and MidHudson Regional?
It depends on the plan, and the two Poughkeepsie hospitals are in different health systems. Vassar Brothers Medical Center on Reade Place and Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck are now part of Northwell Health, which also runs Northwell Health Primary Care at Millbrook, on Route 44 with a Salt Point address; MidHudson Regional Hospital on North Road is part of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth). A plan can list one system and not the other, so I check the hospital you'd use and each of your doctors by name in the specific plan's directory for Dutchess County.
I live in the Town of Washington outside the village. Is my plan list different?
No. The Village of Millbrook is in the Town of Washington, and both are in Dutchess County. Medicare Advantage and Part D plans are filed by county, so a village address and a Town of Washington address see the same Dutchess County list. The Town Hall, at 10 Reservoir Drive, has a Millbrook mailing address too.
I don't drive. How do I get to medical appointments from Millbrook?
Dutchess County Public Transit's Route D runs from Poughkeepsie to Millbrook via Pleasant Valley, Monday through Saturday. Its Flex service is curb-to-curb on weekdays anywhere in the county for registered riders, booked 30 days to 3 days ahead at (845) 473-8424. The Village lists the North East Community Center's Dial-A-Ride, with trips anywhere in Dutchess County for medical, shopping or social reasons and door pickup for Millbrook residents, booked at (518) 592-1399, ext. 5; the county lists the same center's Care Car for the Town of Washington. The Office for the Aging (845-486-2555) registers older adults who are not on Medicaid and have no other way to get there for a limited number of free rides to non-emergency medical appointments in the county.
Where is free Medicare counselling for Millbrook residents?
The Dutchess County Office for the Aging, at 114 Delafield Street in Poughkeepsie, runs HIICAP, which gives free, objective counselling on Medicare. Its HIICAP hotline is 845-486-2566; the main office line is (845) 486-2555. The statewide HIICAP line is 1-800-701-0501. It's a good second opinion on anything I recommend.
Do you meet Millbrook clients in person?
No. My office is in Clifton Park, and I work with Millbrook residents by phone, WhatsApp and video. The comparison and the enrollment work the same way, and I stay your contact afterwards.
