Medicare agent for Greenfield

Greenfield, with its hamlets of Greenfield Center, Middle Grove and Porter Corners, describes itself as five miles north of Saratoga Springs. Saratoga Hospital is in the city, Glens Falls Hospital and Albany Medical Center are in the same health system, and the plans people here choose from are Saratoga County's. So the first thing I check is whether a plan's directory includes the doctors and hospital you actually use.

Where Greenfield residents get care

  • Saratoga Hospital, 211 Church Street, Saratoga Springs (518-587-3222) — part of the Albany Med Health System, in the city the town describes as five miles to its south. The Saratoga Hospital page places every plan sold in Saratoga County against the hospital's own carrier list.
  • Glens Falls Hospital, 100 Park Street, Glens Falls (518-926-1000) — also a member of the Albany Med Health System. It is in Warren County, so its page lists the Warren and Washington County plans; for a Saratoga County plan I check it by name in the plan's directory.
  • Albany Medical Center, 43 New Scotland Avenue, Albany (518-262-3125) — also in the Albany Med Health System, with its own carrier list, for specialist care your doctors may send you to.

The three hospitals belong to one system, but a plan can list the system and still leave out a particular practice. With a Medicare Advantage plan, the hospital you would be admitted to and each doctor all have to be in that plan's directory for the year. Original Medicare with a Medigap policy has no network, so any provider that accepts Medicare works. Which carriers each Capital Region hospital lists is on one page.

What's particular about Greenfield

  • Three ZIP codes, one plan list. Greenfield Center is 12833, Middle Grove 12850 and Porter Corners 12859, and the Census Bureau puts all of the land in those three ZIP areas in Saratoga County. Every address in the town chooses from the same list: 52 Medicare Advantage plans for 2027. A move to another county changes the list, and a move out of your plan's service area, or to an address with new plan options, opens a Special Enrollment Period that runs for two full months after the move.
  • Rides and meals come from the county. The county's Department of Aging and Youth Services offers rides on a contribution basis to residents 60 and over, for trips such as medical appointments and grocery shopping. Its Gather & Dine lunch list has no site in Greenfield; the sites include the Saratoga Senior Center at 290 West Avenue, the Corinth Senior Center and Galway Town Hall, with lunch at noon on weekdays for those who reserve by noon the day before. If county rides are how you reach the doctor, the plan's network has to include the doctors you can get to.
  • Medigap is priced like Albany. New York's Department of Financial Services compares Medigap premiums by region, and its Albany region covers ZIP codes starting 120–123 and 128–129, which takes in Greenfield Center (12833), Middle Grove (12850) and Porter Corners (12859). In New York you can buy or switch Medigap in any month without health questions; the current premiums for the region are on their own page.
  • Retiree and employer coverage first. State, school district and hospital retirees, and people still working at 65, have coverage that coordinates with Medicare in its own way. Whether an individual plan adds to it or cancels it comes before any comparison; NYSHIP retirees and Medicare while working past 65 cover the two most common cases.

Meeting in Greenfield

My office is in Clifton Park, a drive down the Northway at Exit 9. I meet Greenfield clients at home, in Greenfield Center, Middle Grove, Porter Corners or anywhere in the town, or we talk by phone, WhatsApp or video. A first call takes about fifteen minutes: your ZIP code, your doctors and whether they're in Saratoga Springs, Glens Falls or Albany, your prescriptions, and any retiree, VA or Medicaid coverage. Nothing is decided on a first call.

What a Greenfield plan review covers

  1. Every doctor you see, checked against each plan's current directory: Saratoga Hospital and its doctors, Glens Falls Hospital if you use it, and any specialists in Albany.
  2. Prescriptions priced through each plan's formulary for the full year, at the pharmacy you actually use.
  3. Retiree, VA or Medicaid coverage and exactly how each option would interact with it, plus a screening for the Medicare Savings Program and Extra Help.
  4. A written comparison with total yearly cost, and a plain statement of whether your current coverage should be left alone.

No fee for Medicare plan help. Request a review, or read the wider Medicare page for all of Saratoga County. Nearby: Saratoga Springs, Wilton and Gansevoort and Corinth. Business owners in town can read business insurance in Greenfield.

Questions

Common questions

Short answers to what people ask before they call.

Still have a question? Call (518) 902-8822 or book a call.

Do Greenfield Center, Middle Grove and Porter Corners have the same Medicare plans?

Yes. Medicare Advantage and Part D plans are filed by county, and the Census Bureau's ZIP-to-county file puts all of the land in the 12833, 12850 and 12859 ZIP areas in Saratoga County. Every address in the town chooses from the same Saratoga County list as Saratoga Springs, Wilton and Corinth. What differs from one person to the next is which plans include your doctors and price your prescriptions well.

My doctors are at Saratoga Hospital. Which plans include them?

Saratoga Hospital, at 211 Church Street in Saratoga Springs, is part of the Albany Med Health System. The hospital publishes a list of accepted carriers, not plans, and a carrier on the list does not mean every plan from that carrier is in network. I check the hospital and each of your doctors by name in each Saratoga County plan's directory for the year. With Original Medicare and a Medigap policy there is no network to check.

Is there help getting to doctor appointments from Greenfield?

The Saratoga County Department of Aging and Youth Services offers transportation to residents 60 and over, on a contribution basis, for trips such as medical appointments and grocery shopping; call the Office for the Aging at 518-884-4100 to ask about rides from your address. People on Medicaid book medical transportation through the number the county gives, 1-855-852-3292. If that is how you reach your doctors, the doctors you can get to have to be in your plan's directory for the year.

Where is free Medicare counselling for Greenfield?

The Saratoga County Office for the Aging at 152 West High Street in Ballston Spa (518-884-4100) runs HIICAP, New York's free and unbiased Medicare counselling, by phone or in person with a scheduled appointment. It covers every plan and sells nothing. I enroll you in the plans I'm appointed with and stay your contact afterwards; HIICAP is the second opinion I recommend to anyone who wants one.

Do you meet Greenfield clients in person?

Yes. My office is in Clifton Park, off Northway Exit 9, and I come to you at home in Greenfield Center, Middle Grove, Porter Corners or anywhere else in the town. We can also talk by phone, WhatsApp or video when that's easier.
