Medicare agent for Wilton and Gansevoort

Wilton sits between two hospitals of the same health system, Saratoga Hospital to the south and Glens Falls Hospital to the north, with Saratoga Hospital's urgent care at Northway Exit 15 in the middle of town. Medicare choices here mostly come down to which of those your doctors use, and whether each one is in the specific plan's directory.

Where Wilton and Gansevoort residents get care

  • Urgent care at Wilton Medical Arts, 3040 Route 50 at Northway Exit 15 (518-580-2273) — a service of Saratoga Hospital, open seven days, walk-in for all ages, with lab tests and imaging in the same building. Its mailing address reads Saratoga Springs.
  • Saratoga Hospital, 211 Church Street, Saratoga Springs (518-587-3222) — the hospital itself, a member of the Albany Med Health System. The Saratoga Hospital page places every plan sold in Saratoga County against the hospital's own carrier list.
  • Glens Falls Hospital, 100 Park Street, Glens Falls (518-926-1000) — up the Northway, also an Albany Med Health System member, and closer for some people in the north end of Wilton and around Gansevoort. It is in Warren County, so its page lists the Warren and Washington County plans; for a Saratoga County plan I check it by name in the plan's directory.
  • Albany specialists. Cardiology, oncology and orthopedics often mean Albany Medical Center or St. Peter's, forty minutes or more south. Each contracts with carriers separately, so those offices get their own check.

Saratoga Hospital and Glens Falls Hospital belong to one system, but a plan can list the system and still leave out a particular practice. With a Medicare Advantage plan, the hospital, the Exit 15 urgent care and each doctor all have to be in that plan's directory for the year. Original Medicare with a Medigap policy has no network, so any provider that accepts Medicare works. Which carriers each Capital Region hospital lists is on one page.

What's particular about Wilton

  • Three school districts, one plan list. Wilton is split between the Saratoga Springs, Schuylerville and South Glens Falls school districts, Town Hall shares the 12831 ZIP code with Gansevoort, and the medical building at Exit 15 has a Saratoga Springs address. Gansevoort itself is a hamlet of the neighboring Town of Northumberland. None of that changes your Medicare options: Wilton and Northumberland are both in Saratoga County, which has one Medicare Advantage list, 52 plans for 2027. Glens Falls and Queensbury, a few exits north, are in Warren County, with 45 plans; the Glens Falls page covers that side.
  • Social Security is in Glens Falls, not Schenectady. The office for Wilton is the Glens Falls Social Security Office at 67 Warren Street, Suite 1, Glens Falls, NY 12801 (1-877-405-4875); hours: Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; closed weekends and federal holidays. Medicare Part A and B sign-up and Extra Help applications go through Social Security, and nearly all of it can be done online or by phone instead.
  • Moving into senior housing or care. The town lists several senior options of its own, including Northern Pines Senior Apartments on Northern Pines Road, Wilton Commons at Route 9 and Waller Road, and The Home of the Good Shepherd's assisted living. A move within Wilton doesn't change your plan list. Moving into a nursing home or rehabilitation hospital does open a Special Enrollment Period that lasts while you live there and for two full months after the month you move out. Medicare doesn't pay for long-term custodial care, including the non-medical care in an assisted living residence, so that cost is planned separately.
  • Medigap is priced like Albany. New York's Department of Financial Services compares Medigap premiums by region, and its Albany region covers ZIP codes starting 120–123 and 128–129, which takes in Wilton and Gansevoort. In New York you can buy or switch Medigap in any month without health questions; the current premiums for the region are on their own page.
  • Retiree coverage first. State, school district and hospital retirees often have retiree health coverage that coordinates with Medicare in its own way, and joining an outside plan can disrupt it. That question comes before any comparison; NYSHIP retirees have their own rules.

Meeting in Wilton

My office is in Clifton Park, straight down the Northway from Exit 15 to Exit 9. I come up to meet Wilton and Gansevoort clients at home, or we talk by phone, WhatsApp or video. A first call takes about fifteen minutes: your ZIP code, your doctors and whether they're in Saratoga Springs, Glens Falls or Albany, your prescriptions, and any retiree, VA or Medicaid coverage. Nothing is decided on a first call.

What a Wilton plan review covers

  1. Every doctor you see, checked against each plan's current directory: Saratoga Hospital and its Exit 15 urgent care, Glens Falls Hospital if you use it, and any specialists in Albany.
  2. Prescriptions priced through each plan's formulary for the full year, at the pharmacy you actually use.
  3. Retiree, VA or Medicaid coverage and exactly how each option would interact with it, plus what a move into senior housing or care would change.
  4. A written comparison with total yearly cost, and a plain statement of whether your current coverage should be left alone.

No fee for Medicare plan help. Request a review, read the Saratoga Springs page if your doctors are in the city, or the wider Medicare page for all of Saratoga County.

Questions

Common questions

Short answers to what people ask before they call.

Still have a question? Call (518) 902-8822 or book a call.

Is the urgent care at Exit 15 in Wilton part of Saratoga Hospital?

Yes. The urgent care at Wilton Medical Arts, 3040 Route 50, is described by the Albany Med Health System as a service of Saratoga Hospital, with lab tests and imaging in the same building and no appointment needed. With Medicare Advantage I check it in the plan's directory alongside the hospital itself, because urgent care and emergency visits are separate lines in a plan's cost-sharing. With Original Medicare and a Medigap policy there is no network to check.

I live in the north end of Wilton and my doctors are in Glens Falls. Which plans can I get?

Saratoga County's. Medicare Advantage plans are filed by county, and Wilton and Gansevoort are both in Saratoga County, even if your doctors and hospital are in Warren County. Glens Falls Hospital is a member of the Albany Med Health System, like Saratoga Hospital, but I still check the hospital and each of your Glens Falls doctors by name in the Saratoga County plan's directory, because being in the same system does not guarantee the same contracts.

Is there free transportation to doctor appointments from Wilton?

Yes, through the county. The Saratoga County Office for the Aging runs free rides for residents 60 and over on Tuesdays and Thursdays, to doctor appointments, shopping and senior centers. You book through the Office for the Aging at 518-884-4100 by noon the day before, and trips run between 9 and 4, so it helps to have doctors whose appointments fit those days and hours.

Where is free Medicare counselling for Wilton residents?

The Saratoga County Office for the Aging at 152 West High Street in Ballston Spa (518-884-4100) runs HIICAP, New York's free and unbiased Medicare counselling, by phone or appointment. It covers every plan and sells nothing. I enroll you in the plans I'm appointed with and stay your contact afterwards; HIICAP is the second opinion I recommend to anyone who wants one.

Do you meet Wilton and Gansevoort clients in person?

Yes. My office is in Clifton Park, straight down the Northway from Exit 15 to Exit 9, and I come to you at home in Wilton and Gansevoort. A first conversation can be by phone or WhatsApp, and full reviews work well by video when that's easier.
