Medicare agent for South Glens Falls and Moreau

South Glens Falls sits across the Hudson from the City of Glens Falls, and the Town of Moreau around it has the river on three sides. Glens Falls Hospital is just over the river in Warren County, but the plans you can buy here are Saratoga County's, so a Medicare review here starts by checking Glens Falls doctors against Saratoga County plans.

Where South Glens Falls and Moreau residents get care

  • Glens Falls Hospital, 100 Park Street, Glens Falls (518-926-1000) — across the river in Warren County, a member of the Albany Med Health System, with the Sheridan Emergency Department open around the clock. It lists northern Saratoga County in its service area. Its page places the Warren and Washington County plans against the hospital's list; for a Saratoga County plan I check the hospital by name in the plan's directory.
  • Hudson Headwaters Moreau Family Health, 1299 Route 9 (mailing address Gansevoort), 518-761-6961 — family medicine, podiatry and behavioral health, with Glens Falls Hospital lab and imaging services in the building. The Hudson Headwaters Pharmacy at Moreau is across the parking lot at 1305 Route 9 (518-203-3547), with a drive-thru and free prescription delivery; it says it accepts Medicare, Medicaid and most commercial plans.
  • Saratoga Hospital, 211 Church Street, Saratoga Springs (518-587-3222) — the hospital in your own county, in the same health system as Glens Falls Hospital. Its urgent care at Northway Exit 15 in Wilton (518-580-2273) is open seven days. The Saratoga Hospital page places every plan sold in Saratoga County against its list.

The two hospitals share a health system, but a plan can list the system and still leave out a particular practice, and Hudson Headwaters' insurance page names carriers, not individual Medicare Advantage plans. With Medicare Advantage, the hospital, the health center and each provider have to be in the specific plan's directory for the year; Original Medicare with a Medigap policy has no network, so any provider that accepts Medicare works on either side of the river. The carriers each Capital Region hospital lists are on one page.

What's particular about South Glens Falls and Moreau

  • A bridge is a county line. The village calls itself part of northeastern Saratoga County, across the Hudson from the City of Glens Falls. South Glens Falls and Moreau share Saratoga County's list, 52 Medicare Advantage plans for 2027, while Glens Falls and Queensbury have Warren County's (45 plans). Neighbors who use the same hospital can be choosing from different lists.
  • Fort Edward's ZIP, Saratoga County's plans. Moreau's Town Hall on Reynolds Road has a 12828 ZIP code, the one Fort Edward uses, and the Census Bureau's ZIP-area file shows 12828 running into Washington County (44 plans). The 12803 ZIP area of South Glens Falls lies entirely in Saratoga County. Plans follow the county you live in, so a Moreau address with a 12828 ZIP still sees the Saratoga County list. A move across the river opens a Special Enrollment Period if your plan isn't sold at the new address or new plans are.
  • The river on three sides. The town's land use plan says the Hudson borders Moreau on the west, north and east, with the village as the town's original center. Glens Falls Hospital is a river crossing away, while the county's own hospital is south in Saratoga Springs, so I check doctors in both directions.
  • Medigap is priced like Albany. New York's Department of Financial Services compares Medigap premiums by region, and its Albany region covers ZIP codes starting 120–123 and 128–129, which takes in 12803 and 12828. In New York you can buy or switch Medigap in any month without health questions; the current premiums for the region are on their own page.
  • Retiree coverage first. If you have retiree coverage from the state, a school district or another employer, how it coordinates with Medicare comes before any comparison; NYSHIP retirees and Medicare while working past 65 cover those two cases.

What a South Glens Falls plan review covers

  1. Every doctor you see, checked against each Saratoga County plan's current directory: Glens Falls Hospital, Saratoga Hospital, your Hudson Headwaters health center and provider, and any specialists in Glens Falls, Saratoga Springs or Albany.
  2. Prescriptions priced through each plan's formulary for the full year, at the pharmacy you actually use.
  3. Retiree, VA or Medicaid coverage and exactly how each option would interact with it, plus a screening for the Medicare Savings Program and Extra Help.
  4. A written comparison with total yearly cost, and a plain statement of whether your current coverage should be left alone.

Questions

Common questions

Short answers to what people ask before they call.

Still have a question? Call (518) 902-8822 or book a call.

My doctors are across the bridge in Glens Falls. Which plans can I get?

Saratoga County's. Medicare Advantage plans are filed by county, and the Village of South Glens Falls and the Town of Moreau are in Saratoga County, even when your doctors and hospital are in Warren County. Glens Falls Hospital lists northern Saratoga County in its service area and is a member of the Albany Med Health System, but a Saratoga County plan still has to include the hospital and each of your Glens Falls doctors in its own directory. I check each one by name before you enroll.

My mail says Moreau 12828, the same ZIP as Fort Edward. Does that change my plans?

No. Moreau's own Town Hall on Reynolds Road has a 12828 ZIP code, the one Fort Edward uses across the river in Washington County, and the Census Bureau's ZIP-area file shows 12828 crossing the county line. Plans follow the county you live in, not the post office, so a home in the Town of Moreau sees Saratoga County's list whatever the envelope says. A move across the river, in either direction, can change the list; a move to an address outside your plan's service area, or to one with new plan options, opens a Special Enrollment Period that runs for two full months after the move.

Is there a ride to doctor appointments from South Glens Falls?

Two. The Moreau Community Center at 144 Main Street runs Dial-A-Bus for members 55 and over and people with disabilities, for medical and everyday trips, with pickups for residents of Moreau and South Glens Falls; call (518) 792-6007 and speak to a person, since it does not take messages. The Saratoga County Department of Aging and Youth Services also offers contribution-based rides to medical appointments for residents 60 and over at (518) 884-4100. If you rely on either, I check that your plan's doctors are ones you can reach.

Where is free Medicare counselling for South Glens Falls residents?

The Saratoga County Department of Aging and Youth Services, which includes the Office for the Aging, at 152 West High Street in Ballston Spa, (518) 884-4100. Its HIICAP counsellors help compare Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medigap, the Medicare Savings Program and Extra Help, by phone or in person with an appointment. I enroll you in the plans I'm appointed with and stay your contact afterwards; HIICAP is the second opinion I recommend to anyone who wants one.

Do you meet South Glens Falls clients in person?

Yes. My office is in Clifton Park, off Northway Exit 9, and I come up the Northway to meet people at home in South Glens Falls and Moreau, or we talk by phone, WhatsApp or video. No fee for Medicare plan help.
